A European fashion house that happens to be radically sustainable.
We have a problem with mass production. The industry weaves more than it can sew, sews more than it can sell, and sells more than anyone can wear. We refuse to add to it. RAMAELLE uses no new fabric. Ever.
We transform existing garments into new textile materials and fashion pieces. Instead of buying new fabric, we give already-produced clothing a completely new life, through textile manipulation, reconstruction and design.

We are not a tailor mending old clothes. RAMAELLE is a fashion and textile design house that creates new materials out of existing garments, and then cuts couture from them.

The five steps
I
Collect
Deadstock from mill archives, vintage cloth from auctions and estates, garments offered to the atelier. Everything is sourced, dated and washed before it earns a shelf.

Deconstruct
Seams are opened by hand, not cut. The cloth tells us what it was: its hems, its wear, its strongest runs. Nothing usable is thrown away.
III
Transform
Washing, sorting by softness, re-dyeing where the cloth allows it, testing every piece for strength. This is the slowest step and the one that decides everything.
IV
Create
Patterns are walked on the actual cloth: its width and its scars set the rules. Cutting is a commitment: most of our fabric cannot be reordered.
V
Design
The piece is finished around its wearer: fitting, adjusting, binding, pressing. Design is the last step here, not the first. The cloth had the first word.
What we will not claim
- We will not call the house carbon neutral. We have not measured everything yet, and offsets are not a wardrobe.
- We will not wear certification logos we do not hold. When we obtain one, it will be named here with its scope.
- We will not call a piece "circular" because it might be recycled one day by someone else.
- We will not use sustainability as a discount on design. If a piece is not beautiful, its footprint does not save it.
What you can hold us to
- No new fabric, ever. Deadstock and vintage are explained inside that promise, not next to it.
- Every piece names the origin of its cloth on its own page.
- The atelier repairs its own work for the life of the piece.
- Offcuts are kept and reused; what genuinely cannot be used is documented, not quietly binned.
